The Merseysideiders had been expected to confirm their spot in the round of 16 in Matchday 4 but slipped to a surprise 3-2 defeat to Toulouse.

They now get a second bite of the cherry as they face a LASK side that pushed them close in the opening stages of the reverse fixture on Matchday 1 before the English Premier League side eventually eased their way to a 3-1 victory.

Liverpool host LASK at Anfield on Thursday, Nov. 30. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. GMT local time in the UK (3 p.m. ET, noon PT in the US and Canada, and 7 a.m. AEST on Friday, Dec. 1 in Australia).

A victory on Merseyside will secure the Reds a top-two spot in Group E while also forcing Toulouse to win at home to Belgians Union Saint-Gilloise to keep the battle for first place alive.

Jurgen Klopp has urged Liverpool's fans to make Anfield a "horrible" place for the Austrians to visit as he prepares to rotate his team for what is a banana skin of a game.

LASK caused Liverpool issues in the latter's 3-1 comeback win in the opening game of this group stage. After defeat last time out in the Europa League, Klopp will be desperate for a more comfortable night at the office here.

Liverpool were back in Europa League action this evening when they lost LASK Linz at Anfield in the final group stage game. While the Reds remain strong favorites to qualify for the knockout stages, their loss to Toulouse before the international break has complicated matters somewhat. Though unlikely to cost them, there’s an element of risk on the table now.

They will progress into the next stage if they avoid defeat this evening, or if Union SG fails to beat Toulouse. If they win and the French outfit in second place does not, Liverpool will have officially won the group and will duly avoid having to play another game before the round of 16 begins next year.

The Europa League group stage is about to reach a frantic finale as clubs battle over not just qualifying for the knockouts, but the right to avoid a potentially tricky play-off tie.

Runners-up of each eight groups will be sent into a match-up against a team demoted from the Champions League, which will be drawn next month.

Jurgen Klopp has urged Liverpool fans to rouse themselves for Thursday's Europa League meeting with LASK.

The Austrian side travel to Merseyside as hardly a glamour fixture for the Reds, who are set to rotate their team with one hand already on a place in the knockout stages.

Klopp has confirmed that Liverpool will be without both Alisson and Jota for the games ahead after their respective injuries sustained against City.

Alisson should return at some stage in December with his hamstring issue not as serious as first feared but still "bad enough" according to the boss, though Jota's problem is worse and it remains to be seen at this stage when he will return.

Liverpool has won just two of their last five games, but there's no real reason to sound the alarm just yet. Though a 3-2 loss to Toulouse and a 1-1 draw with Luton Town were far from ideal, the Reds bounced back with a trademark 3-0 win over Brentford and arrived to Thursday's matchup after holding Manchester City to a 1-1 draw.

Jurgen Klopp has plenty of attackers to choose from and will likely rotate to some degree, as he has throughout the Europa League campaign. Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota each have two goals in Liverpool's last five games and could be called upon against LASK, while the likes of Cody Gakpo and Alexis Mac Allister might also be involved.

The Reds would have booked a spot in the round of 16 had they avoided defeat in the previous round, but Jurgen Klopp's side were beaten 3-2 by Toulouse instead. Still, they remain two points clear at the top of Group E heading into this clash, with three wins and one loss from four games.

LASK, meanwhile, still holds hopes of reaching the knockout play-off round after beating Union Saint-Gilloise last time out, but they're more likely to compete with the Belgian side for a Europa Conference League spot by finishing third in the group.

A draw at Anfield will also be enough for Liverpool, who currently claim the top spot in the Group E standings of the Europa League. The Merseyside-based unit has so far claimed three wins out of their four Europa League games. The Reds will enter their next Europa League fixture having played out a 1-1 draw in their last match with Manchester City.

LASK, on the other hand, has not had a memorable Europa League campaign this time. The Austrian side are currently languishing at the bottom of the Group E standings with just a solitary Europa League victory under their belt.

Liverpool are now third in the league behind Arsenal and City. They have winnable fixtures against Fulham, Sheffield United, and Crystal Palace coming up before they take on Manchester United at Anfield.

In the Europa League, Liverpool have won all their games except their last one where they lost 3-2 to Toulouse. Klopp's team will be hoping for a better showing in the competition than they did earlier this month in France.
